Warehouse Stationery in the Community
For more than 30 years, Warehouse Stationery has been part of Kiwi life. From the first exercise book to the big school project, from setting up a first business to bringing a creative idea to life, we’ve been there to help Kiwis get started and do their best work.
That comes from our heritage. Sir Stephen Tindall founded The Warehouse on the belief that New Zealanders deserved better access to the things they needed every day. Thirty years on, that spirit remains at the heart of Warehouse Stationery.
And our connection to New Zealand communities runs deep. Each of our stores is an active part of its local community — supporting schools, community groups, families, businesses and the people who make each neighbourhood unique.
Today, our opportunity is to build on that legacy. To use our stores, our people, our products and our connection to communities to make a meaningful difference — particularly for Kiwi kids and the education communities around them.
Because being part of a community means more than being there. It means getting involved, giving back and helping create opportunities for people to thrive.
Warehouse Stationery x The Salvation Army
Together, we’re on a mission to tackle inequality in classrooms.
Classroom inequality can be hard to see, but teachers are often the first to notice when a child doesn’t have the stationery, resources or essentials they need to participate and feel like they belong.
That’s why Warehouse Stationery and The Salvation Army are coming together to help give Kiwi kids a fair shot at school.
Throughout the year, we’ll bring together schools, families, communities, and our own teams to raise funds and provide stationery and other essential items to children who need a helping hand.
And from February 2027, we’ll take this one step further, launching a national support programme for teachers and the wider community, delivered through The Salvation Army’s nationwide network. The programme will make it easier for those who see a need to access practical support for children and families.
Because every child deserves the chance to start the school day with the tools they need to join in, learn, and thrive.
Thank a Teacher Appeal
From 5 October (World Teachers’ Day) to 1 November, we’re inviting New Zealanders to thank a teacher who has made a difference in their life, while helping give that same chance to another Kiwi child.
Anyone can create and send a personalised digital thank-you card to a teacher through our website. For every card sent, Warehouse Stationery will donate $2 to The Salvation Army, up to $50,000, to help provide school essentials to Kiwi kids in need.
We’re also fundraising in our stores, giving our customers and communities another way to get behind the cause.
Together with The Salvation Army, we’re working to make sure more tamariki across Aotearoa have the essentials they need to feel included and ready to learn.
Here for Good
The Warehouse Group is known for being Here for Good - it’s who we are and what keeps us focused to succeed. Our Here for Good philosophy focusses on three key pillars: our people, our products, and our planet. It represents our commitment to better living for all New Zealanders, through sustainable retail products and practices and the mission of contributing to the long-lasting health of our planet.
Over the years, we’ve raised over 50 million dollars for New Zealand communities and have contributed to countless community-focussed initiatives. Each year, we support our 13 key charity partners through in-store fundraising and events, helping to provide Kiwis with the critical support that these charity partners provide.
We were the first company in New Zealand to add a Shielded Site link to the Women's Refuge website to help protect those experiencing family violence, and we were a key supporter of the Government’s Family Violence Victims’ Protection Bill.
We were New Zealand’s first large company and the third major retailer in the world to go carbon neutral, and remain committed to accomplishing our numerous sustainability goals.
We know that we’re not perfect, but our Here for Good value is what helps guide us on our journey to become an even better partner for the communities across New Zealand that we’re embedded in.
